Not at all. I guess I should define "we"

"We" as in Bran, Eric, Tony, Simone, Dominik and many others who are working on the OpenROV 2.3 unit that is going out with the Kickstarter kits are all plugging away on the Beaglebone version. Some other folks in the community (the other "we") have mentioned on the forums that they're working on a rasberry pi version. I think that's great! Other ideas and strategies are always welcome!

In short: Beaglebone development continues!

Alejandro, no. We're strongly pushing the BeagleBone at the moment - mostly because we're having a custom cape designed to house the additional electronics. That said, we want to be able to support other platforms as well, but we're focusing on the BB. We leave it up to the community to develop for other systems, for now.

Partly yes. But also because there seems to be a strong community developing around the r pi. Have to imagine that something else will come along and be better/cheaper still. It's a good idea to remain system agnostic.

I see you started with a beaglebone and are now looking at using a R PI. Is that a cost based decision or something else?

Interesting news from the Raspberry Jam event in Cambridge UK! The production of the units is now ramped up to 4000 per day to help deal with the long backlog as they origonally only intended to sell 10,000 units in total but they have done 200,000 since launch.  But there was a more important announcement which may please this forum; " announcement that a camera module for the device was coming very soon, priced at $20-$25 and offering 5MP photos and good quality video" The wait list is 5 weeks from Farrell today - I may go with that in the hope the integrated camera will simplify the integration later and save me the 5 weeks delivery time! I still have to factor in the transfer time though? Would it be worth the effort & $46?

Ben- yes there is!  Bran Sorem has done a bunch of software development with the BeagleBone which you can find here. We have also created a software section on our forums which we will add content to in the next week. We'd love to start hearing peoples questions and ideas, so feel free to be the first person to add a topic to the software forum if you like!

My program was originally written and tested on a Duemilanove so everything should work- I suggest verifying that the hardware is correct by running the "Fade" example code that comes with the Arduino IDE.  In the Arduino IDE, go to File -->  Examples --> 1.Basics --> Fade.  You can find more details and a wiring diagram to go with this program here  If that works, try hooking the output up to an H-bridge and powering a motor with it (the motor should spin faster and slower periodically).  If that works and my software still doesn't, try cussing at the Arduino, then write me again and we'll go through it.  Also, are you testing the PWM output by running the TSCROV-1 on the connected computer, or are you simply inputting commands through the Arduino IDE serial terminal?
